Kitchen Table Makeover Tutorial Part 1!

Jared and I have had two tables since we got married. The first was a rectangle table from Jared's parents, and when I decided I wanted a round table one of our family friends gave us this one!

It's been a great table, but over the past year or so, I've noticed places where the top is bubbled up or cracked.

I decided to start this project on a whim. Literally, I was sitting at the table and got so sick of looking at it, I went to the garage and found this primer. It's perfect for painting over laminate furniture because it will stick to anything! I've never had any luck sanding laminate furniture, so this primer is great.

It was getting dark when I got started, so please excuse the lighting in these photos, but I started by separating the table where the leaf goes (and if I had any sense, I would have primed the leaf at the same time.), and began priming.

This is it with the second coat of primer on it.

I've got some big plans for this table. I want to paint the top white and the pedestal base red. I'd also like to get rid of the chairs that came with the table and replace them with funky chairs painted mostly red with black accents.

I've got to get started painting!
