Quick Update!

I am still here, y'all. We've been feeling stressed and busy over here, so here's what's been happening.

Jared went and climbed a mountain with his mom, and my sister stayed with me at my house along with her new puppy. He's super cute, but he pees A LOT.

PepperJack and Puck love each other! PepperJack loves Puck so much he tried to nurse on her. So funny!

Jared and I are going to head to the beach next week, and I've got 890233 things to do before we can go adventuring.

The day after we get back, I'm driving back to the mountains to pick up our new puppy while Jared jumps back into work.

He's got the sweetest face!

The following week, we are setting up our booth at the Georgia Marble Festival.

This is our booth from last year!

Then, my friend Connie's wedding festivities start, and I'm in charge of a few of the bouquets, so I've got to buckle down and finish those up.

So, on top of our usual responsiblities, we have all this other stuff to work on, so if I'm not around quite as often, please understand! I'm planning on stopping in and updating every so often, but it won't be as regular as it is now.

I'll get back to our regularly scheduled posts after The Georgia Marble Festival! Thanks for understanding!

Plants in Unusual Containers: 5 Gallon Industrial Mixing Bowl Edition

Sometimes things break in the restaurant business, and this time I benefited from it! Jared brought home this mixing bowl when the mixer it went with broke. I don't bake even on a small scale, so there was no way this was going to get used for its original purpose.

So I put a plant in it. Of course.

Jared went to run a couple of errands and he brought this fiddle leaf fig home just because he loves me.

This is its temporary home tucked under our instruments. I'm not sure where it will live when it gets bigger, but I'll find a place.

Do y'all have any plants in weird containers?

His Banner Over Me is Love

His banner over me is love, but this banner over my window is made from little crochet squares I bought at a yard sale (along with some other doilies) all for a buck!

I found some yarn and threaded it through some of the holes in the crochet squares. I secured them with tiny clothespins from the dollar store. Then I made slip knots in both ends of the yarn and tacked them in the corners with a push pin.

I know it's not such a big thing, but it really makes me happy.

Photo Friday: 9.6.2013

Welcome to Photo Friday where I show my week in pictures! Follow me on Instagram @tristantuttle ! These posts are a mix of my instagram photos, pictures taken with my Canon, and photos taken by my friends and family.  For more Photo Friday, click here.

Our time at Armuchee was great! I want to thank everyone who came out, talked with us, bought our items, and helped make Armuchee Bluegrass Festival great!

If you'd like to see a super cute kid, LOOK NO FURTHER THAN KATIE MAY!

Kate has had a rough go of it recently, and Puck did her best to make her feel better this week.

I trimmed back the jungle vines on our front porch and found this little guy! I love that even though we live in a subdivision, we still find these little bits of wildness around our home.

Puck got a little too close to my basket painting project from my last post...

This planter was a $3.96 Goodwill deal. This photo is priceless.

I put together this little arrangement for under 3 bucks! Not pictured: the mess I made when I watered it. It turns out this little metal container is NOT watertight.

Jared piled these pillows on top of Puck. She stayed under them for 15 minutes without moving. That dog kills me.

This baby got a new necklace!

Kate and I drove up to North Carolina and picked up her Pepper Jack! He's the pup at 12 o' clock.

I hope y'all have a great weekend!

Updating a Thrift Store Basket

This post could also be titled, "I love painter's tape." Because I do. And it is so very very handy for little projects like this one!

I bought this basket for $1.91 at my local Goodwill. It has a plastic liner in it, so I assume it was supposed to be a planter.

I taped off where I wanted to paint.

And then I painted it.

Then I decided I wanted to paint an upside down triangle on the other sides. I picked orange for my next color.

Turns out, I hate orange. So I painted over it with a minty-green color.

I took it outside and sprayed it with a clear-coat spray to seal the paint. I put some Wandering Jew plant in it, and now it's ready to go! I'm thinking of hanging this basket somewhere, but for now it can sit on my piano.
