Ice, Ice, Baby!

I know. I shouldn't try to come up with clever titles because I just end up using Vanilla Ice lyrics. I apologize to y'all.

BUT! Look at this antique ice box THAT WE GOT FOR FREE!

This ice box gift is another reason why I think bluegrass people are the best people. The wife of one of the best bass players I know messaged me on facebook telling me that they were clearing out some things to make an office, and she wanted to know if I would like this ice box. Her parents bought it in the 70s from an antique store and it's been in her family ever since.

I'm going to add a plant to this little vignette as soon as I find the perfect planter.

My grandma gave me this little kitty cat. She's sitting on top of some of my favorite books.

I'm using this ice box as a storage place for my paint and various art supplies.

Obviously, I don't have enough paint.

Jared did some research and this ice box is probably from the 1930s!

And since I have more storage space now, this little corner of stuff is all that's on my desk besides a sewing machine. Yay for organizational progress!!

I'm hoping to get another bookcase and put it where that huge bookcase is, move that mirror and shift this bookcase over so I can have even more storage. My current bookcase is about to overflow!

I'm so excited about this ice box! What kind of unusual storage do y'all have?

  1. Great idea! Doesn't hurt that it's pretty, too...

There was a time when I was in grad school that I used my old mini fridge from college as a night stand. Didn't look very pretty, but I needed another table/extra storage!

A few random things I wanted to say: The Handmade Marketplace was a pretty great book--I read it when I was first planning my business. I should check out the other two, as their titles have piqued my interest! Also, one last thing: I love your print/poster!

    1. Steal Like an Artist is one of the best books I've ever read. It's a really quick read and is honestly mostly common sense stuff, but it's so good! I'd definitely recommend it! You can also follow the author on instagram, tumblr, and twitter, and he's an interesting guy. He was one of the people who first made blackout poetry popular!
