A Mosaic Tree!

A few months ago, my previous Spanish professor from Kennesaw State got in touch with me through facebook and asked me if I would create a custom mosaic window for her. She told me I could do whatever I wanted, but that she wanted it to be a tree. So once I found the right size window, I got to work!

I started laying out all my stones, and once I got everything laid out how I wanted it, I started gluing each individual piece onto the panes.

Cell phone pictures...could be better!

Once the glue had time to cure, I went outside and got ready to add the grout.

This is the scariest part for me because it looks like I ruined the window every time!

But I didn't! After the grout dried, I cleaned and scraped all of the excess grout off of EACH INDIVIDUAL STONE... my hands were wore out! But it was totally worth it!

I dropped it off with its new owner this morning, and she loved it! She even posted this photo on her facebook page! I hope she'll send me more when she gets it officially hung up!

If any of y'all are interested in a window, I am happy to talk about making one for you! Email me at upcycleddownriver at gmail dot com or contact me on facebook via the Upcycled Downriver page!

  1. Gorgeous and inspiring!

  2. Two of my favorite things (trees and mosaics) in one! Love it! Great work!

Hey! Thanks for being awesome and wanting to comment! I love to read what people have to say!
