A New Home For Some New Chicks!

While Jared and my plans for chickens are on hold, my aunt Missy just finished up her coop! My uncle Lon and their friend Zack built this awesome chicken coop almost entirely out of repurposed and found materials, which is right up my alley. They ended up spending less than 50 bucks on this whole thing, and that was for latches and hinges mostly!

They converted a rabbit hutch (the red portion of the coop) into nesting boxes and framed up the rest of the coop with scrap lumber, tin (buried in the ground to keep predators from digging in and the chickens from digging out!), and a metal door.

My uncle Lon in action!

Even the inside is cute!

These little babies don't get to stay in their new home just yet, but they enjoyed it for a little while!
