Today is Crafty Day, and since one of our regulars is moving to start a new adventure in Chattanooga and it's another friend's birthday, I wanted today to be a little more special. I saw this great recipe from oh, sweet joy! on pinterest and I knew I wanted to try it.
She calls them "Can't Mess 'Em Up Cookies," but I'm extremely horrible at baking, so I knew it was possible. If you click the link above it takes you to the original recipe, but the idea is that you mix together a box cake mix, some vanilla, an egg, and a container of cool whip to make an amazing batch of cookies!
So, I started mixing. I used my hand mixer, but I caught some stray cool whip with the spoon. In the interest of full disclosure, I only used half of my container of cool whip. I assume Kim from oh, sweet joy! meant to use the normal-sized container, but the huge container was cheaper.
I took a spoonful of batter and smushed it into a bowl of powdered sugar and put it on the cookie sheet.
I put the cookies in the oven for 10 minutes like the recipe says. I remembered a couple of minutes in that I forgot to spray the cookie sheet with Pam. I took them out, tried to scrape some of the cookies up to spray under them, and found out that they had pretty much melted to the bottom.
oh, well. I put them back in the oven and hoped they wouldn't burn.
Then I remembered that I never added the egg...By putting them in the hot oven, I basically just made the cookies more smushy than they were before they started baking.
Once I took them out of the oven, I added more powdered sugar because I couldn't really mess them up any more than I already did.
At least they look pretty, right?
I hope my friends like to eat their cookies with a spoon.
